SESSION 2: The impact of moving/changing established attractions & museums

This session will reflect on design and other issues that impact on well-known visitor experiences, in both the commercial and cultural domains, that have relocated and being refurbished as a result of necessity, growth, geography or their repositioning in the marketplace. It is not easy for an existing, successful attraction to contemplate such an expensive capital investment or the risk that may be attached to a potential change in their modus operandii or unfamiliar changes for repeat visitors. Is it necessary for leisure operators and cultural institutions to keep re-inventing their offer and real estate because they have to compete in a very volatile marketplace with a public that expects state of the art experiences and blockbuster exhibitions & attractions?
