Glenn McCartney has been working and researching Macao’s hospitality industry since 1999 when he focused on tourism and gaming development topics during the casino liberalisation period in early 2000. Working with the Macao Government during the early 2000s in which he studied and reported to the Macao Government on overseas gaming jurisdictions, Glenn was also asked to consult on the initial 2 casino projects to be built post-liberalisation in Macao, the Waldo and Sands casino projects. With specialities on destination marketing, branding and development, Chinese outbound travel behaviour, Asian casino marketing, and travel/consumer research in Asian markets, in Macao he has advised several casino concessionaires including MGM, The Venetian, StarWorld and Galaxy Resort. He has also advised other gaming consortium in other parts of Asia. For most of 2012 he was marketing consultant for The Venetian, Macao, overseeing the marketing of the shops at The Venetian, Four Seasons and the newly opened Sands Cotai Central. Recently he advised the Macau Government Tourism Office on their tourism master plan. Glenn has been the British Honorary Consul, Macao since 2004.
